Alexie has returned to the DeSales University stage in Pennsylvania where she’s playing the lead of Gwendoline in the play THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. Also starring is Zack Robidas. The play is being directed Jim Helsinger. Judging by the photos and the video itself Alexie looks quite the part. She just looks gorgeous in period costume.
Local actors return for Shakespeare Festival performances
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Shakespeare festival at DeSales University is in full swing. In its 22nd season, the curtain rose on the fourth of seven shows Friday night with some familiar faces shining in the spotlight. It’s a show full of wit and romance. The characters came to life on stage during the opening night of Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Importance of Being Earnest.’ “The Importance of Being Earnest is a super funny play,” explained Director Jim Helsinger. “One of the funniest plays ever written.” And the cast is made up of the best the business has to offer from Philly to New York to LA. “We’re looking for the best actors because to do great work requires great artists,” added Patrick Mulcahy, Producing Artistic Director. Two of the main roles, Algernon Moncrieff and Gwendolyn Fairfax, are played by actors very familiar with this DeSales stage. “I played Gwendolyn in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ as a freshman at DeSales,” shared Alexie Gilmore. “So this is definitely bringing back a lot of memories.” Gilmore’s co-star, Zack Robidas is also a DeSales grad. Now he’s sharing the spotlight with the same people who taught him his craft. “When you come back as a colleague it’s kind of nice because you just kind of feel on the level with them, and they can let their guard down a little bit,” he said. The two have been successful in their acting careers, and say you just need to take that plunge into the business, and work hard at it if you think this is the life for you. “If you ingrain that in yourself in school, to work really hard and take it seriously, that will flow into your career,” smiled Gilmore.
